There are 36 leaves of plates bound throughout the text including illustrations of the governors of Chile and 11 portraits of the governors of Chile bound between p. 322 and 323; following p. 455 are 6 leaves of illustrations of buildings and maps numbered 1-12, and 3 leaves of plans of ports and islands numbered 1-6. According to Medina, the nine portraits which represent the governors of Chile were engraved by A. Tempesta; some copies have plates in variant states
